The other day while contemplating
life, I was thinking that I would become a writer and I think I’ve come up with
the perfect Hollywood blockbuster. So here is my plot
for the film/movie.
The first thing you need is the
main character; let’s make ours a highly successful career woman from a big
city. New York! Cities don’t come
any bigger right?
So now we have to think about
what she does and how she lives her life. Let’s give her a job with lots of stress;
I initially though of Wall Street, (the masses aren’t fond of bankers or the
financial sector at the moment), but instead I opted for Marketing. As she is
very successful therefore everything must be at a fast pace. I’m thinking very
early mornings/late nights. Imagine the scene; it’s early morning our heroine
is off to the office, coffee in one hand and mobile/cell phone in the other
strutting through the streets of NY in her expensive high heels.
As she’s a high flyer, she has to
keep her self in shape. So it’s gym either before or after work, and the
workout has to be high intensity.
I’m thinking of asking Sandra
Bullock to play this role.
Now every good story has to have
a twist, so what I thought of was to give our heroine some kind of a set back
in her life, something that would make her re-evaluate her entire life. Initially
I thought of giving her cancer, but that’s been done to death (pardon the pun) so
I thought I’ve give her some debilitating illness. Something that won’t kill
her off, (just in case we want to make a sequel), however, it has to be severe enough
to change her career path, so I came up with osteoporosis.
Change of setting.
Our heroine decided to leaves NY
and her fast paced life to move in with her folks in a small town.
This is where our hero comes in! (I'm thinking Tom Cruise)
Our heroine bumps into a man (our
hero) on day and they get talking, she explains about her illness, and as it
happens he may have the cure. (Love at first sight? Not even close). Our hero
is a Nutritionist and want to help our heroine cure herself from the inside,
she agreess! (Hurray!!)
Over the course of the next
couple of years, he makes her take vitamins, minerals and makes her push
weights till she is sick of the sight of him. But something is stirring inside
of both of them, they don’t know yet but they are falling head over heel in
love for each other.
A couple of years down the line,
our heroine is back NY to get retested for her osteoporosis, and miraculously
she is cured!
Time to part, our couple have
come to the end of their formal relationship but they find excuses to continue
to hang out together, (this is getting serious, and now they both realise it).
Soon they are married!
As their honeymoon they set off
on a six year around the world voyage to discover the secrets of good health.
On their return the write a book about
their discoveries and very soon cure malnutrition in the entire world and live
happily ever after.
A bit far fetched?
Too much of a cliché?
Well this is a true story of
Jayson and Mira Calton the authors of Naked Calories.
The book is a must read if you
value your health.
We always get mixed messages in
the media, one day a report comes out saying vitamins are good for you; the
next day another saying they aren’t. Their book explains not only why vitamins
and minerals are important but how they may help you improve the health quality
of your life.
During their six year voyage
around the world, they observed how the more westernised the lifestyle the
worse the health of that population. They concluded that the food they eat must
be a factor and that those who live in remote tribes get fresh nutrient rich
food daily from birth to death; however, in our so called civilised world, that
just isn’t true.
We now grow our food in nutrient depleted
soil; our cattle/chickens/sheep/pigs are feed crap and kept locked in sheds
from birth till death. As well as this we eat far too much sugar and refined
foods, as the Carlton’s put it, “energy
dense nutrient poor food”. Our food is no longer grown locally and is shipped
to us from all over the world. This along with all the other factors mentioned
is depleting the Micro-Nutrients from our foods.
Is it any wonder that the rates
of the following disease are increasing: heart disease, type 1 diabetes,
inflammatory bowel diseases, obesity, autoimmune diseases and many forms of
cancer.
Can all these be simply down to
our Micro-Nutrients?
Their book explains not only why vitamins
and minerals are important but how if taken daily along side a nutrient rich
diet they can aid in improving our health.
But don’t rush out to buy a
multi-vitamin tablet, just yet! Read why you need the right quantities at the
right time for them to be affective.
If you had to read one book on
health this year then this surely must be it.
