Music is my
first love and it’ll be my last. Sounds like a que for a song doesn’t it?
When I was
thinking of writing this blog on music I really didn’t know how I was going
take a picture of my real first love, music. So I’ve opted for a picture of the
Jules Holland show via my TV.
I’ve been a
music fan for as long as I can remember.
My first
recollection of loving music goes back to the time I spent in India. My dad
wanted me and my brother to be educated in Punjab so one by one as we got to a
certain age (5) we were shipped off to my uncle and aunties house in a little
rural village. I went to a boarding school a few months later but not before I was
exposed to what was some of the most wonderful music I’d ever heard.
My uncle
would put the radio on a couple of times a day and during that time we’d sit
around and listen to either Punjabi or Hindi music. I can’t really remember
listening to any music when I was here with my parents so all this colourful
music was a total revelation.
I came back
to England when I was about nine, and instantly I was exposed to the latest
songs on the radio. Once again I was in for a treat! I now had three very different
types of music I really loved.
The first
real band I followed was Madness; and I remember buying every single; album I
could get my hands on. It wasn’t long before my musical taste broadened even
further and now I have a very eclectic taste in music.
It all
depends on my mood but one moment I could be listening to an African folk song
and the next spice girls. It’s that varied. But I wouldn’t have it any other
way.
